Do you think trees want to hold hands?
Do they brush their leaves against the others,
Or intertwine their roots
Twisting and burrowing to each other
With the longing to touch,
To caress,
To feel?
Do they despair for it is not the same?
For their strength contrasts our soft flesh,
And our quivering fingertips.
For they are forced to take their time
While we rush at each other with
The momentum of a thousand aeons.
Do they know we envy their perpetuity?
Do you think trees want to hold hands?
Do they brush their leaves against the others,
Or intertwine their roots
Twisting and burrowing to each other
With the longing to touch,
To caress,
To feel?
Do they despair for it is not the same?
For their strength contrasts our soft flesh,
And our quivering fingertips.
For they are forced to take their time
While we rush at each other with
The momentum of a thousand aeons.
Do they know we envy their perpetuity?
